If their PCs don't get an upgrade, most people will get a new version of Windows like Windows 12 when they buy a new PC. After all, the company pushed aggressively to upgrade Windows 7 users to Windows 10, and it's now pushing to upgrade Windows 10 users to Windows 11, where possible. We would be surprised if Microsoft began charging for Windows 12 upgrades.
